No sale, display of C-string underwear at festival
The Taipei county government declared a ban on Wednesday on the sale and display of C-string “invisible underwear” at an upcoming music festival to be held in the county, on the grounds of “modesty”.
Those who wear this type of underwear will also “not be welcomed” – at least by county government officials – at the Ho-Hai-Yan Rock Festival slated for July 10-12 at Fulong beach in the county’s Gongliao township, according to officials of the county’s Tourism and Travel Bureau.
Saying that the local government wants the annual music festival to be “healthy and simple,” the officials said anyone who breaks the ban on the skimpy smalls can be arrested by the police for “violating public modesty.”
The ban was imposed in the wake of reports that a seller of the garment has recruited models to exhibit and sell the product at the venue of the popular festival, now in its 10th year.
The strapless panty is designed with a flexible internal frame that hugs and holds it to the body. The product is advertised as being perfect for wearing either under clothing or alone as beachwear for tanning, because it does not produce any panty lines or tan lines.
