Nantou County sets dates for annual hot spring festival

Nantou, July 1 (CNA) Nantou County’s annual Hot Spring Festival, which this year will showcase four hot spring centers, has been tentatively scheduled to be held from Oct.17, 2009 to Jan. 3, 2010, the landlocked county announced Wednesday.

The county’s Department of Tourism, in conjunction with local tourism operators, has decided to hold key festival activities in four hot spring scenic areas — Lushan, Dongpu and Dapu townships, as well as Nanbeigang River in Guosing township.

The department and local hotel operators will jointly launch campaigns to promote various tour packages during the festival to draw more tourists to the mountainous county, best known for spectacular scenic spots such as Sun Moon Lake, Yushan National Park and Hehuanshan. (By Roger Chou)
