Taipei, Nov. 24 (CNA) The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced Tuesday the opening of 205 life-long learning centers for senior citizens at 28 universities, providing them with the chance to study subjects of interest to them.

Education Minister Wu Ching-chi encouraged elderly citizens to continue learning music, computers, arts or anything else that inspires them despite their advanced age, and hailed one 91-year-old man as an excellent example of that vigor.

Since its inception in November last year, more than 800 people aged over 60 living in more than 200 townships have taken part in the life-long learning program being promoted by the ministry, Wu noted, adding that schooling is very important for older people today, as Taiwan is increasingly becoming an aged society.
