Taipei, Nov. 28 (CNA) One more detained suspect in complex corruption and money laundering probes implicating the former first family was released on bail Friday after prosecutors determined that he no longer needed to be detained.

Wu Ching-mao, the older brother of former first lady Wu Shu-jen, was freed on NT$2 million (US$60,060) bail after more than 50 days of detention, but he is still required to report any change in his residence and is barred from leaving the country.

Wu Ching-mao was taken into custody Oct.7 on suspicion of violating the anti-money laundering act by helping his sister wire a large sum of money abroad using figurehead accounts.

By mid-November, prosecutors of the Special Investigation Division under the Supreme Prosecutors Office had detained 10 suspects involved in the former first family-related alleged graft and money-laundering dealings, including former President Chen Shui-bian. Except for Chen, most of other detainees in the case have ben released on bail or unconditionally. (By Sofia Wu)
